Information
on copyright issues is available from BECTA

Some resources are password protected - normal user name and passwords apply. If you do not know the passwords please contact tim.burton@pembrokeshire.gov.uk, alona.jones@pembrokeshire.gov.uk or duncan.whitehurst@pembrokeshire.gov.uk.
Some resources will currently take a minute or so to show on your IWB screen; please be patient until broadband connections arrive everywhere, until then a good idea is to run through the presentation before using with pupils so that the files are "cached" on your computer! Welsh and Maths activities for the Interactive Board from Tim Reed of Orielton School
Editable Literacy Powerpoints and Easiteach Maths Coordinates lessons for Year 5 and 6 by Jane Rees of Llangwm School (normal username and passwords needed)
There are many other ways to use the Interactive Whiteboard. We are grateful to Sheila Furniss of Templeton School for these two examples of the use of Publisher as an interactive teaching tool. With Publisher in edit mode with the "View, guidelines" turned off, it is possible to get pupils to the board to uncover, drag and drop objects.

You will need a copy of Microsoft Publisher in order to open and use these
files. These links are to useful lessons on "Probability"
file is in self extracting Zip format to save downloading time).

Sheila has also put together some examples of lesson templates to be used with the Easiteach Maths package. These can be saved to your hard disc by right clicking and choosing "Save".

Thankyou for sharing your resources Sheila!
If you have any tried and tested Easiteach Maths templates you would like to share, please email them to us or use the Discussion Areas to upload them!
A drag and drop Alphabet Board to use
on the Interactive Whiteboard from Annie Hammersley - Templeton School (use
normal username and password).
Words can be made by dragging the coloured letters and clusters onto the
white area for literacy lessons.
Tim Pounder of Johnston School has been using the Whiteboard when marking work. He chooses a good example of handwritten literacy work that he is able to mark positively, scans it onto the board using the free software Irfanview, and talks through his marking with his pupils. As well as giving the whole class a better understanding of what he is looking for in their work this has had the spin off that some of the pupils in his class are now improving the quality of their written work because they wish to see their own work on display on the board.
Tom Cox of Tenby Junior School uses the Handwriting Recognition software that comes with the Hitachi Starboards (in the advanced toolbar section) with pupils who have difficulty forming letters. They get a sense of achievement when they use the pen to form letters using the recognition software, because the software recognises their handwriting correctly and their efforts are changed into legible "text".

To download the above presentations for editing (to adapt them to the level of the pupils you are teaching) right click below and choose "save target as". These will take a short time to download. If you have Office or Powerpoint installed, you may then adapt the presentations to suit your own class as well as saving them to floppy disc etc.
Existing sections of the PGFL web site can also be used direct to the Interactive Board (for instance try this link) but many can also be adapted to the level of your pupils by copying, pasting and editing into applications such as Publisher, Powerpoint and Illuminatus.
If you do not have Powerpoint on your machine, please visit the BECTA Site below which will give you the opportunity to download the Powerpoint Viewer.
The BECTA "Teacher Resource Exchange" has some useful content. You can search the resource by Key Stage or by Subject Area. You may also look in "Useful Software" to download programs like Winzip, and if you do not have Microsoft Office installed, you might also need to install the Viewer Software from the "Useful Software" page. Registration is not essential but recommended to pinpoint resources suitable for the level you are teaching.
Click HERE to access the Teacher Resource Exchange
Another option is to search the Internet using www.google.co.uk or www.bbc.co.uk safe search, including your subject/topic, and the term ".ppt" in the search field if you are looking for a Powerpoint presentation (for example try a search for tudors and .ppt or victorians and .ppt to see what comes up in a U.K. search).
We strongly recommend pupils are closely supervised when using the Internet and that teachers read and follow guidance available here. All links are checked by the Website Editorial Team. However because of the ever changing nature of the Internet we cannot be responsible for external links that are out of date or now contain unsuitable material, neither do we endorse views expressed on sites linked from here. By leaving these pages for any external links you accept the above terms.
